Remodel existing 1-story wood-framed building to be used as an animal shelter for The Calaveras County Humane Society. Remodel includes demolition of interior walls to accommodate new layout for housing dogs, cats, and other small animals. Remodel also includes spaces for offices and restrooms.
Exterior window openings are to be changed on the east side. A portion of the west exterior wall is to be demolished and re-built over a new concrete foundation. Wood post supports at the south wall are to be removed and replaced with new wood-framed stem walls over new concrete foundation. Roof at northwest portion of building is to be re-framed to match adjacent roof pitch to the south. Covered overhang at highway side of building is to be demolished and replaced with new wood columns, which will be encased in new rock veneer. Existing exterior siding is to be replaced with new mineral fiber cement siding over new moisture barrier and wall insulation.
Site work includes new van-accessible parking, new walkway at covered overhang, and new concrete pad for kennels. A new fence is to be placed on the highway side to restrict animals from highway.
